When to pick: Our Ruby Red rhubarb is now available to pick mid April until mid June. We also have a great supply in the farm shop.
How to pick: We supply bags for picking though we encourage you to bring your own carrier bags to reduce plastic use. To pick, simply pull the stem from the bottom of the plant – but only pick one stem from each plant to protect the crop. Break off the leaves and leave them in the field as these are very poisonous; do make sure you wash your hands afterwards in one of our outdoor sinks.
Ready picked: If PYO is not for you then we have a skilled team of professionals in the fields who pick our best every single day. You can find our ready-picked fruit in the Farm Shop fridges. If you would like to order a large volume of fruit or vegetables for an event, we’ll be more than happy to help. Please drop us a message via our contact form or call the shop on 01865 358 309.
What we grow: We grow Ruby Red rhubarb here at Rectory Farm and we love that it keeps its vibrant colour throughout cooking. This rhubarb also tastes deliciously sweet: we recommend baking your rhubarb in the oven with lemon and orange zest and eating with granola and yoghurt for a simple, healthy breakfast. Our rhubarb grows in straw beds – the same straw we harvest from our wheat the year before – which stays warm in the winter, cool in the summer and provides extra nutrition for a healthy and tasty crop.
