Free Range Whole Chicken

For smaller gatherings, our free-range traditional chickens make a perfect roast (up to 8 people).

D’oyleys Farm slow-grown, pastured chickens come to the farm when they are one day old. Reared by hand, they spend two weeks under gas heat, at which point they are large enough to spend the rest of their lives outdoors. They keep their flocks small, and they have access to abundant pasture year-round.

They spend their days outside, eating the grasses and bugs while returning valuable nutrients back to the soil. As a regenerative farm, the chickens play a valuable role in improving soil quality which helps grasses sequester CO2 in the ground.

The chickens live twice as long as supermarket chicken, growing slowly on a natural diet of grasses and cereals. Once they reach maturity of at least 80 days they are processed on the farm so they have zero food miles. D’oyleys dry pluck them by hand and hang them for one week which tenderises the meat and develops flavour.

We aim for all our turkeys to sit in the middle of the range but occasionally we will have larger or smaller birds, please let us know in the comments if you are looking for a smaller bird in the range, we can then reduce the price at collection or add in a little free gift.
